TRACKING SHOT-DEMONS

(We open on an ancient race of demons, bearing down on
a large city. They have blue-green skin, have scales on
their faces and arms, and their faces are incredibly
wrinkled-as if they've experienced a lifetime of wear
and tear. The demons are wearing varied outfits, but the
general design doesn't change: long overcoats combined
with chain-mail armor. They are ruthless in dispatching
anyone that is unlucky enough to get in their way using
whatever weapons are at their disposal(guns, swords,
maces, etc.). In this process, they have killed dozens
of people before they even enter the city limits. They
then arrive in the city, and kill dozens more. Lihe,
the lead demon, is seen on his horse.)

LIHE

Go, my warriors! Let nothing stop you in your
quest for riches and domination!

(Eventually, the citizens who haven't been attacked and/or
killed wave the white flag of surrender. Seeing this, the
lead demon signals his forces to stop the attack. The
rest of the demons follow his orders.)

SWITCH TO:

INT-CITY HALL-NIGHT

(The demons are enjoying their victory overrunning yet
another town, throwing a party where the wine is flowing
and all of the demons are in a partying mood. Lihe raises
his mug in celebration.)

LIHE

The sky is the limit for us, my friends. There is
no one and nothing that can stop us from conquering all
that we see. This is the life!

EXT-HEINZ HALL-EVENING(PRESENT DAY)

CUT TO:

INT-HEINZ HALL

FOCUS ON:

DEREK & KATE

(We now see Derek and Kate seated at a performance of
the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, titled Biss Plays
Mozart. Derek's wearing a shirt, tie and slacks, while
Kate sticks to a simple black dress. As the pianist
continues to play, Derek's bored out of his mind, looking
everywhere but the stage.)

DEREK
(telepathically)

This is the pits.

(Kate looks over at Derek.)

KATE
(telepathically;small frown on her face)

I heard that.

DEREK
(telepathically)

Remind me again why I got tickets for this show?

KATE
(telepathically)

You wanted to give me an early birthday present?

DEREK
(telepathically)

Yeah...but why couldn't it have been for the
Michael Cavanaugh show? I like Billy Joel's music and I
wanted to see how he'd interpret it.

KATE
(telepathically)

I just happen to like classical music more, that's
all.

(Derek continues to watch the show with a minimum of
interest.)

DEREK
(telepathically)

You know what I'm going to like most about the
show?

KATE
(telepathically)

I'm almost afraid to ask...

(Kate steels herself for the response, eyebrows raised,
as her voice trails off.)

DEREK
(telepathically)

When it ends.

(Kate's eyes roll, yet she restrains from slapping Derek's
head. Instead, a wicked grin comes over her.)

KATE
(telepathically)

You are so NOT getting lucky tonight.

(Derek telepathically groans and sinks into his seat.)

DEREK
(telepathically)

Oh, whatever will I do? She has denied me nookie!

KATE
(telepathically)

Keep this up and I'll make it 2 weeks where you
don't get any. And at least try to seem interested.

DEREK
(telepathically)

All right...you win. I'll fake it.

(Kate sinks back into her seat, smiling broadly-not only
because of the music, but beating Derek.)

SWITCH TO:

INT-HEINZ HALL-EVENING

(We now see the crowd filing out after the performance.)

FOCUS & TRACKING SHOT ON:

DEREK & KATE

(In contrast to earlier, Derek has a small smile on his
face. Kate, on the other hand, is still beaming as they
walk out of the building and onto Penn Avenue towards
Derek's car. Derek turns to face Kate.)

DEREK

Kate...sorry for being such a jerk in there. I'm
just not used to classical music. I've got more of a rock
and roll heart.

KATE
(looking at Derek)

It's OK. When you're in love, you have to
accept that your partner's not going to have the same
interests as you do. As long as the love's there, that's
all that matters.

DEREK
(hopefully)

So, does this mean I'm going to get lucky?

KATE
(raises her eyebrows)

Let me think about that for a second...

(She pauses.)

No.

(Derek winces.)

DEREK

Guess I'll have to get my kicks watching the
Steelers tomorrow, then. Will a kiss suffice?

KATE

I suppose so.

(They lean in and kiss.)

CONTINUE TRACKING SHOT:

DEREK & KATE

(As they continue walking up Penn Avenue, they see a man in
some distress drop right at their feet. Kate jumps back for
a second, but quickly recovers and moves around to the other
side of the man as the two of them try to figure out what
happened.)

Are you all right, sir? We'll get you some help.

(The man is severely bruised all over his body, and also has
a couple of visible wounds. Kate eases him into a prone position
and kneels down by his side.)

I'll call 911.

(Kate pulls her cell phone out of her clutch purse and
dials, while Derek scans the body for anything else of
note. He sees on one hand a symbol which, at first blush,
looks like an inkblot. When he sees it, Derek's face
scrunches up and his eyes narrow. Kate, who had just
gotten off the phone, notices his reaction and frowns
slightly.)

DEREK

Son of a bitch. I thought we got rid of these guys
decades ago.
